Thank you for using Blog Designer. We are very glad that you have used our Blog Designer WordPress Plugin.

Blog Designer is a WordPress plugin that allows you to modify your blog layout and designs. That will add value to your WordPress site as beautiful blog page design. We can switch with any blog layouts anytime, no coding skill required.

This document was written very carefully by keeping the mind set that it should be easily understood for Beginner to Advance user or developers. We have divided this document into 3 main section.

1) Getting Started : This section will very help full for Quick start and understand how plugin works.
2) Detailed Document : This section explains every thing about Blog Designer plugin with every setting.

Installation

1. Installation Via WordPress Admin area

  1. Step 1. Log into your WordPress admin area.
  2. Step 2. Click on the left side plugin menu.
  3. Step 3. Now at the top you can see the Add New button, click the button.
  4. Step 4. Again at the top you can see/view Upload Plugin button, click the button.
  5. Step 5. Extract that blog-designer.zip file in your local pc and find there another plugin file (blog-designer.zip) that you have downloaded from wordpress.org.
  6. Step 5. Now upload the plugin zip file (blog-designer-pro.zip). After upload, click on "Install" button and click on "Activate Plugin".

2. Installation Via FTP

  1. Step 1. Download Blog Designer plugin zip file (blog-designer.zip) from wordpress plugin directory.
  2. Step 2. Extract Zip file. it will create "Blog Designer" folder with all plugin files & folder inside it. (Remember extracted folder path).
  3. Step 3. Using your FTP program, upload the non-zipped plugin folder into the "/wp-content/plugins/" folder on your server.
  4. Step 4. Go to Dashboard » Plugins » Installed Plugins and find Blog Designer from plugin list.
  5. Step 5. Click on Activate to activate Blog Designer.

The quick guide will help you to easily setup your blog page layout in 2 easy steps within 1 to 2 minutes. we have made it easier as you can setup only in 2 Steps.

Please follow this quick steps given below.

Step 1 :

Create a new Blog Page

  1. Instead of trying on your Blog page or other page, we suggest to first test with new page for your blog.

    1. Create New page from "Pages" section and give title as "My Blog".
    2. Click on "Publish" button to publish new page.
    3. Right Click on Permalink URL and open it in new tab of browser. (it will be useful to check page view from front end.)

Step 2 :

Create blog layout with Blog Designer settings

  1. 1. Go to Dashboard » Blog Designer

    2. Now, click on Select Template Button button to get the entire list of blog templates available for you.

    3. Select any one blog layout that you want to set for your blog from the given free list and follow next instructions.

    Note: Blog Designer provide you 15 unique blog layout in free version.
    4. Select page to display your blog layout.

  2. NOTE: In "Blog Page Displays" option list if you select any page to display your posts, then you will lose all the content of that selected page (if there is any content already exist with page, please keep backup of it OR use other blank page).
  3. Then click on "Save Changes" button from right top side corner.
  4. Now refresh the page that we already have opened in another tab during step 1, in our case its "My Blog" page OR open URL of your Page that you have selected for your blog page at "Select page for blog" option in above step.

  5. Congratulations..!! you have configure Blog designer plugin.

1. Blog layout

Click on Select Template Button button to get the entire list of blog templates available for you.

2. Select Page for Blog

Select Page for Blog (Your blog design will display with that page)

3. Number of Posts to Display

Manage the number of posts to display at a time on blog page.

4. Select Post Categories

Select post category or custom taxonomy to display category wise posts on a page.

5. Select Post Tags

Select post tag or custom taxonomy to display tag wise posts on a page.

6. Select Post Authors

Select authors to display author wise posts on a page.

7. Display Setting

  • Sticky Post: Select display sticky post on blog page.
  • Post Category: Display post category option allows you to show/hide category on blog page.
  • Post Tag: Display post tag option allows you to show/hide tag on blog page.
  • Post Author: Display post author option allows you to show/hide author on blog page.
  • Post Published Date: Display post date option allows you to show/hide post published date on blog page.
  • Post Comment Count: Display post comment count option allows you to show/hide comment count on blog page.
  • Post Like: To display total no. of like according to posts, simply select the yes option otherwise no.

Enter main blog container class name.

2. Blog Grid Columns (Desktop - Above 980px)

Set the grid columns for the desktop mode like 1 Column, 2 Columns, 3 Columns and 4 Columns.

3. Blog Grid Columns (iPad - 720px - 980px)

Set the grid columns for the iPad mode like 1 Column, 2 Columns, 3 Columns and 4 Columns.

4. Blog Grid Columns (Tablet - 480px - 720px)

Set the grid columns for the tablet mode like 1 Column, 2 Columns, 3 Columns and 4 Columns.

5. Blog Grid Columns (Mobile - Smaller Than 480px )

Set the grid columns for the mobile mode like 1 Column, 2 Columns, 3 Columns and 4 Columns.

6. Display Blog Content In

User can set Blog Content for Sallet slider. It has 2 options like Right and Center.

Note: "Display Blog Content In" is available for Sallet Slider Template layout.

7. Blog Posts Template Color

Set blog post template color using color picker.

8. Blog Posts Hover Background Color

Set blog post hover background color using color picker.

9. Background Color for Blog Posts

10. Alternative Background Color

Click to enable alternate background color to posts.

11. Choose Alternative Background Color

Set alternate post background color using color picker.

1. For each Article in a Feed, Show

This option allows you to display full text or summary text on blog page posts.

2. Post Content Length (words)

To Manage your post content length, in words.

3. Show Content From 

To display text from post content or from post excerpt.

4. Display HTML tags with Summary

To display post content with html tages and attribute.

5. First Letter as Dropcap 

To display First letter of post content to large size.

Note: "First Letter as Dropcap" is available in PRO version.

6. Post Content Color

This option allows you to set post content color on blog page using color picker.

7. Read More Settings

  • Display Read More On: Click To display read more button and also select the position of the button to same line or new line position.
  • Read More Text: Set read more button text.
  • Read More Text Color: Set read more button text color using color picker.
  • Read More Text Background Color: Set read more button background color using color picker.
  • Read More Text Hover Background Color: Set read more button hover background color using color picker. 
    Note: "Read More Text Hover Background Color" is available in PRO version.

8.Typography Settings

  • Font Family: Set post title font family. 
  • Font Size: Set post title font size.
  • Font Weight: Set post title font weight. 
  • Line Hight: Set post title font line hight. 
  • Italic Font Style: Set post title normal to italic style.

Yes, Blog designer provide 15 default layouts – Boxy-Clean, Classical, Crayon-Slider, Light Breeze, Spektrum, Evolution, Timeline, Media Grid, Blog Carousel, Blog Grid Box, Sallet Slider, Ticker, Glossary, Lightbreeze and News.

2. How can I get the “Blog Designer Plugin” design instead of “theme design” for blog section on my blog page?

Go to Dashboard » Settings » Reading and check Front page displays option, if you have already selected “A static page” option and posts page settings with your blog page then remove that selection and and select --select-- default option and save that changes.

Yes, there is one backend option available as you can select multiple categories and blog designer apply for that categories only.

4. Is there any social option available as I can show social share button on my blog page with every post?

Yes, Blog designer providing option as you can show social share on blog page with 2 different shape options.

5. Can I control my content length on blog page?

Yes, you can. “Post Cotnent Length” option will give you ability to control your content characters on blog page.

6. I want to hide post details like post author, post date, etc., Can I?

Yes, There is “General Settings” panel where you can manage your post details as you want to show or not.

Translation

Blog Designer plugin is language compatible, thus can be translated into multiple languages. You can use POEdit plugin for translation.

  1. Step 1. Install Poedit tool and open it

  2. Step 2. Open .POT file from /wp-content/plugins/blog-designer/languages/ that you want to translate

  3. Step 3. Now, click on "Save"

  4. Step 4. Then one popup will be appear and then enter your Language code ( Ex :- "ca_CA" for English (Canada)) in language option

  5. Step 5. Then select source path tab and you have to modify this path to full path of your plugin that you want to translate.

  6. Step 6. Then press ok button.

  7. Step 7. Then give file name like this wp_blog_designer-ca_CA.po for English (Canada) language.

  8. Step 8. Then save file inside language folder in plugin that you want to translate and all strings are appear in your poedit editor

  9. Step 9. Select your string that you want to translate and in bottom side there are two options one is Source Text and another one is Translation

  10. Step 10. Source Text keep as it is and in Translation section enter your translated string of selected string that you want to translate and then save it.

  11. Step 11. Repeat step 10 untill your all strings to be translate.

  12. Step 12. Now you will get two separate files – a .po file and a .mo file.

    Note : When you save the files, you must name them according to your language code. Find a list of language codes at WordPress in your Language. For example, the language code for English (Canada) is ca_CA, so you would save the translated files as ca_CA.po and ca_CA.mo.

  13. Step 13. Then go to wp-config.php file then enter the below code.
    define('WPLANG', 'Your language code'); for Ex.(ca_CA for English (Canada)) then save it.

  14. Step 14. Select language from admin side, Go to Dashboard » Settings » General in that check Site Language options.

  5. Step 5. Now upload the plugin zip file (blog-designer-pro.zip) that you have downloaded from Codecanyon . After upload, install the zip and click on "Activate Plugin".

2. Upgrade Via FTP

  1. Step 1. Download Blog Designer PRO plugin zip file (blog-designer-pro.zip) from Codecanyon
  2. Step 2. Extract Zip file in yuor local PC. It will create "Blog Designer Pro" folder with all plugin files & folder inside it. (Remember extracted folder path)
  3. Step 3. Using your FTP program, upload the non-zipped plugin folder into the "/wp-content/plugins/" folder on your server.
  4. Step 4. Go to Dashboard » Plugins » Installed Plugins and find Blog Designer Pro from plugin list.
  5. Step 5. Click on Activate to activate Blog Designer Pro.
